A VIBRANT AREA

Our accommodation was named after the little river De Lage Raam that flows on the opposite side of the road. If you cross the bridge in our street, you will soon find yourself surrounded by nature. The silence area there consists of a small forests and a meadow with cows. And aside from beautiful nature, there is also plenty of art in Mill, which you can explore via the Art Route, as well as history (with castles and war monuments) and the typical cosiness of Brabant (with a few pubs, stores and restaurants). For children there are also plenty of facilities in the area, such as indoor playgrounds, swimming pools, zoos and amusement parks.

HISTORY

The village of Mill has no less than two castles. Adendriel Castle is in the heart of the village and dates from 1477, and can be booked for weddings and parties. Tongelaar Castle has a history dating back all the way to the 9th century, when there was a motte-and-bailey castle in this location. Nowadays there is a beer brewery in the castle, as well as a restaurant, and the castle can be rented for weddings and parties. In Mill, you can still find a lot of restaurants and monuments from World War II, that are referred to as "Traces of the War". Every year there is an art route with local artists. Aside from that there's an annual “Countryside route” and there are Harvest Days, a Castle day and the Boerenbondmuseum in the nearby village.

NATURE

Between Cuijk, Grave and Mill there is a beautiful area, called the (hidden) Raamvallei. It's a place with a large variety of flora and fauna. Over the past years, there has been a lot of attention for the discovery of this piece of nature, and the flowering and growth here. For example by reclaiming De Raam and widening it in some places. In the area, there is a lot of agriculture and tree cultivation, among other things because of the naturally marshy ground. While walking in the morning or evening, we have already seen deer multiple times, at a distance of 500 metres from our terrain.
